Drill and solve!

Drill...drill...drill...How it is looked at with suspicion!
I think drill has a great place in the teaching of math. Math gets 'rooted' in the mind through a thorough drill.

Solving problems requiring different methods is the best 'mathematical gymnastics' one can get!

Drill, Drill, Drill, definitely seems more important on the SAT Math section. Interesting studies have recently come out that students produce higher score increases on the Math section than either the Verbal or Writing sections with practice. A deep understanding of vocabulary can only happen if studying happens long before most students register for traditional SAT prep. Furthermore, it seems the Collegeboard relies more on utilizing "Tricks" to throw students off their game on the Math section, as there are only a finite number of concepts that can be tested, but a seemingly infinite number of vocabulary words. Our solution at perfect800.com is focused on identifying these "Tricks," which is best done through consistent practice. Practice makes perfect.
